Description:

Chapter have participated in the following holiday sale ideas:

  • OSU sold ornaments at an Alternative Gifts Market in another part of Ohio. In 2013, the students painted intricate designs on the ornaments which was quite time-consuming. In 2014, they made more simple ornaments reducing the prep time. By telling people at the event about Nourish, they collected a significant amount of donations as well.
  • Juniata sold Candy Apples at the October/Halloween Fest on their campus.
  • Juniata also did a Valentines day sale where they sold bags of candy and cards that listed the donation made in someone’s honor.
  • Indiana tabled at dorms taking orders for Holiday decorations.
  • Rice sold holiday boxes with candy canes, cookies, and other holiday items. They took orders online the week before and then delivered the boxes to the dorms.
  • Rice also sold Finals Care Packages.
  • Pitt did a Candy Apply Valentines day sale. They got the apples donated and made over $300 in profit.
  • Claremont ran a valentines grams sale where customers could purchase a flower or candy and have it delivered with a song.
  • UC-Berkeley sold miniature Christmas trees.
  • Syracuse sold painted mugs/wine glasses, gloves, and hats.

Profits and Other benefits of Venture (Marketing for an upcoming event, advance ticket sales, social value created, etc.):

It is a fun way to tap into the campus holiday spirit and to get the word out. During the holidays students are more willing to buy gifts and food so it is a great way to boost sales.


Challenges:

Finding nice items to sell and attracting customers on a regular basis.

To address this, brainstorm ideas about food or drink items that are missing on or around your campus, like Boba tea was at Claremont.


Tips:

Ask your friends and fellow students what holiday items they purchase or would like to purchase. Find ways you can provide these products or services.
