Slime Out Poverty

Venture Idea Name:

Slime Out Poverty

Group Members:

Alexis Musick, Christina Gutierrez, Hanna Carroll, Mike Marino, Alex Immel

Description:

Are you a 90s child? Remember this? One group at Summer Institute was inspired by this. What if your Chapter made their own slime and slimed campus celebrities, professors, administrators, athletes, mascots, and/or students? Chapters could set up a date and time when someone was to be slimed, then they could set donation goal, if the goal was met, that person would be slimed by the highest donor! There are plenty of recipes out there, this SI group decided to use jell-o powder, water, flour, baby shampoo, and food coloring. A quick google search will leave you with plenty of options.

Marketing Ideas:

A promo video, setting up a table and asking students who they would like to see slimed, use a board with photos or names to tally results in a visible way, campus radio ads, fliers, word of mouth, etc…

Revenue and Expenses:

Probable Expenses:
Slime ingredients, drop cloth to avoid big messes, marketing materials (music, ads, fliers, etc…)

Sources of Revenue (price, bundles, diverse markets, etc…):
You could solicit donations in order to reach a goal, you could charge people to slime individuals (like a dunk tank), you could slime groups and ask rival groups (frats, athletes, clubs, etc..) to pool their money to meet a goal. You could set up an auction and let the highest bidder do the sliming or choose the person to be slimed. Do market research to determine if people would pay for this opportunity and if so, how much?

Profits and Other benefits of Venture (Marketing for an upcoming event, advance ticket sales, social value created, etc.):

This novel idea could be used as an eye-catching marketing tool. Getting Nourish’s name out in this way would be a fun and interactive way to engage your campus community!

Challenges:

Finding a prominent place to do this, getting people to agree to be slimed, and making enough slime for a low cost would all be challenges.

Tips:

Do a lot of market research.

Would you recommend to other chapters?

Still an untested idea. Maybe for a Chapter whose school has a few campus celebrities or really dislikes their administration (or are especially close with their professors/administrators/student government/etc…)
