“SDSU sells handmade, one of a kind friendship bracelets to our wide range of customers in and around the San Diego State area. We wanted a Venture that represented our Chapter’s attitude, and we’re all about spreading kindness and appreciation. These bracelets are not only a way for us to make money, but they spread positivity and appreciation around our campus and encourage others to do the same. The concept of these bracelets is that a customer will buy two bracelets, then keep one bracelet for themselves and give the other bracelet to a friend or stranger they witness doing something kind for another individual, this is our Kind Campaign! Each bracelet is made by a member of the SDSU Nourish Team and represents each individual’s personal taste and who they think would love their product. Bracelets are sold at local beaches on the weekends and we will soon expand to farmer’s markets both on campus and in the community.

All of our bracelets are made out of various colored twine and beautiful glass beads, each member of our chapter learned how to make a few different styles of bracelets, but individuality is important to our campaign, so every member puts their own twist on the bracelets they create! A tag is placed on each bracelet, written on the tag is a small synopsis about our campaign, our Instagram hashtag (#nourishtheknot) and the name of the member that created the bracelet.”

Marketing:

“We will be creating promotional videos for Nourish and our Kind Bracelet Venture. Members will be required to post flyers throughout campus prior to event dates. Our chapter is also taking full advantage of our social media accounts to inform our target market about upcoming events. Bracelet blasts will also occur on campus prior to a venture event in order to promote the event and create hype for our bracelets.”

Profits and Other Benefits of Venture:

“Currently our bracelets are free with a suggestion donation; we are doing this to promote our partner project in Uganda as well as to promote the Nourish initiative. We believe offering these bracelets for free with a suggested donation will raise awareness for our cause and foster community responsibility to help others less fortunate. In regards to the Triple bottom line, our chapter would like to partner with local businesses for bracelet materials. We would also like to incorporate recycled hemp twine as a major component of our bracelets. These bracelets promote community togetherness and humanity because the bracelets are meant to be given away to others as a ‘kind’ gesture or a reward for an act of kindness.”

Would you recommend to other chapters?

This Venture could be a great way to start a trend on your campus! If bracelets, particularly hemp and/or beaded bracelets, are popular on your campus or in your community, this could be a good Venture for you. This reminds us of the Bead For Life campaign, which got HUGE amounts of attention!
